Your notes stay
on your devices.
Mascot keeps study material in each app’s local data store. This page explains where files, recordings, sync data, and model downloads go during development. A final release policy and public support contact will be published before public app distribution.
Study material
Notes, source files, recordings, cards, reviews, and generated study material are stored in each app’s local data store. Mascot does not require a study-library account or send that library to a Mascot cloud service. Deleting an app or losing a device can also mean losing locally stored work unless you make a backup or export.
Local AI and model downloads
Supported generation runs on your own hardware. If you choose to download a model, your device connects to the model-file host to retrieve it; that host can receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address. A model download does not upload your study material. AI output can be wrong, so Mascot presents it as a draft for your review.
Mascot’s optional local MCP server can hand a source chunk to the AI client you choose. If that client uses a hosted AI provider, the selected chunk may leave your device under that client’s settings. The MCP server does not contact an AI provider itself.
Pairing and sync
Direct sync is between devices you explicitly pair. Pairing uses a visible confirmation step, and sync transfers data through the paired-device protocol. A user-selected encrypted sync file is available when direct discovery is unavailable. Your local network can see connection metadata needed to establish a connection; it does not receive note contents through discovery announcements.
Device permissions
Camera access supports document capture and pairing codes. Photos and files access applies to material you select for import. Microphone access supports lecture recording. Local-network access supports paired-device discovery and sync. The apps request these permissions in context, and you can change permissions in device settings.
Diagnostics and support
The apps do not automatically upload your notes, recordings, or support diagnostics. If you choose to export a support summary or backup, you decide where that file goes. Avoid sharing a backup with anyone you do not trust: it can contain your study material.
This website
This static site has no account form, mailing-list form, advertising pixel, or analytics script in its source. Its hosting provider can process ordinary web requests, including IP addresses and technical request data, to serve and secure the site. The site’s local fonts and images do not require third-party asset requests. Hosting and retention details will be reviewed as part of the public release policy.
Before public release
No app has a public download yet. macOS, iPhone and iPad, Windows, Linux, and Android are planned to release together when platform-specific development and validation are complete. Mascot will publish a final policy, operator and support contact, and any platform-specific disclosures before distribution. The release status shows the current gate.
